On the back is a caption that reads, “The current Montgomery County Courthouse was built after a fire swept through downtown Clarksville in 1878 and destroyed the original structure. This building was nearly lost to fire in 1900 but was salvaged and still stands today at the corner of 2nd Street and Commerce Street. …”
