Author's thesis statement: My work is an exploration on our individual experiences of the past and how we process them. Each piece I make is the "rubber duck" by which I constructively reexamine my past and work through memories. The idea behind rubber ducking is that simply explaining the problem forces us to evaluate it from different perspectives to provide us with a deeper understanding. This project will consist of a series of mixed media sculptures and collages most of which are domesticated items. Besides the use of collected materials I will be incorporating resin and plaster in some of my pieces, solidifying the fragility, layers, and texture memories and our past can have. My process will consist of forming relationships between various materials to relay a certain aspect of my past and highlight ideas of reflection and projection.
