Abstract

Description

On the front of the post card is an image of the entrance to Fort Donelson. On the back is a caption that says, “Fort Donelson National Battlefield, Dover, Tennessee, scene of the North’s first major victory in the Civil War. Here, on February 16, 1862, some 14,000 Confederates surrendered to a Union army, and made known to the world ‘Unconditional Surrender’ Ulysses S. Grant.”
