Abstract
Description
On the front of the post card is an image of defenses built during the Civil War in Fort Donelson. The back has a caption that says, “Earthen works of Fort Donelson overlook the Cumberland River. Confederates built these defenses during the first year of the War. Today, they are preserved as a part of Fort Donelson National Military Park, Dover, Tenn., where 14,000 Confederates surrendered to a Union army commanded by Brig. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant on February 16, 1862.”
