Austin Peay was born near Hopkinsville on June 1, 1876. He practiced law in Clarksville, Tennessee and was elected as Governor in 1922, reelected in 1924 and 1926 and died in office in 1927. Monument is located in Clarksville, Tennessee at corner of 3rd St, north of Commerce St
