Things I Keep in My Locket
(2024-04-29) Ziebell, Hannah
"Things I Keep in My Locket" is at its core a celebration of friendship. I search for joy within the process of making and completing this collection of works. I want to celebrate companionship in its different forms. The imagery depicted in these pieces is important to me just as much as the materials I use to create them. I use fabric to talk about familial relationships and how my fascination with textiles came from watching my grandmother sew throughout my childhood. I frequently use images of cats to express ideas of reliability, stability and growth. This show represents a respite from fixating on hardships and allowing me to celebrate the connections I have formed with people, creatures, buildings, forests and everything else that brings me joy.

Looking for a Tiny Friend
(2024-04-29) Ruiz, Galaxie
My work explores cuteness and whimsical creatures, I like to view them as an escape from our reality. Whenever I finish a new piece, I can imagine it existing in another world separate from our own. One that is filled with fluffy bunnies, purring kittens, and cotton candy clouds. My practice includes painting, sculpture, and ceramics. I enjoy the process of working with my hands and building something out of nothing. I like thinking about what I can do to my pieces to make them represent me and I find it therapeutic to spend the time meticulously accessorizing each one.

The Power of Autism
(2024-04-29) Ninkovich, Colin
The Power of Autism is a collection of art across different mediums that I hope can show people how far I’ve come, and how much progress I’ve made with my talents as an artist. And I hope that it gives the viewers a taste of what all is possible for a high-functioning autistic mind to create. Art happens when one uses their mind to conceptualize an idea, and then uses the work of the hands to make that idea come to life. And for me, that truly is “the power of autism” in the palm of my hand.

Homage
(2024-04-29) Moses, Deborah
My childhood was spent exploring and enjoying nature around my home. During the day watch dragonflies, butterflies, hummingbirds hopping from flower to flower, clouds passing by with strange shapes. At the end of the day, I look forward to the setting sun changing the colors of the sky. Then the arrival of fireflies, as the stars slowly emerge one by one in the sky. I’ve always connected with nature and those memories of my childhood can be seen in my work during the past year.

Unconditional
(2024-04-29) Kell, Lily
What inspires me most in my artistic practice is capturing raw emotion. Whether that be through portraiture, scenic field painting, or abstractly through a ceramic piece, I strive to capture the world the way I see it in hopes that others can feel and relate to it. I want to show the world through my eyes, the beauty that already exists and bring attention to the things I see need positive change. Sometimes I feel the need to create art that escapes reality. A world of ideal perfection and what I believe it should be. Fantasy themes and spiritual undertones continue to make an appearance in my artistic practice. I am passionate about presenting art that shares the soft vulnerable love that can and does exist between any two people and how it should be as equal and as recognized in society.
