dc.descriptionOn the front of the post card are images of cannons at Fort Donelson. The back has a caption that reads, “The Confederate river batteries overlook the Cumberland River (Lake Barkley) from the Fort Donelson National Battlefield, Dover, Tennessee. Here on February 14, 1862, Southern gunners defeated a Union fleet of four ironclad and two timber-clad gunboats in a blazing, hour and a half gun battle.”
