dc.descriptionThe front of the post card has an image of the Port Royal Bridge in Clarksville, TN. On the back is a caption that reads, “Port Royal Bridge, Number 63-01, was originally constructed over the historic red River prior to the Civil War. The structure was swept away by flood 1866 and soon rebuilt. The second bridge was repaired 1897 and was being reconditioned when it crashed on Dec. 7, 1903. The third bridge was completed in 1904 and has been condemned for traffic. This color picture shows its condition Oct. 1965.”
