On the front of the post card is an image of the Houston County Courthouse. The back has a caption that reads, “Houston County, Tennessee was established 1871 named in honor of Sam Houston member of Congress from Tenn. 1823-27 Governor 1827-29. Moving later to Texas he became the leader of the struggle for Independence, commanded the victorious army at the Battle of San Jacinto, was the first president of the Republic of Texas, later U.S. Senator from Texas and Governor of Texas … Erin the county seat of Houston County, Tennessee is a fast growing trade center of the Tennessee Ridge area of West Tennessee.”
