Description
On the front of the post card is an image of the Great Western Furnace at Land Between the Lakes. The back has a caption that reads, “This pioneer iron furnace was built in 1854 by Brian Newell and Co., this steam ‘cold blast’ charcoal furnace was built of limestone from the surrounding hills (Now Stewart County) and is a pattern used in this section of Tennessee for such iron industry prior to and during the time of the Civil War. …”
