dc.description | Owner of a large plantation near Rossview. In postwar decades, was instrumental in setting up Grange lodges throughout the county. In 1871 he was instrumental in convincing the Tennessee legislature to create the state Bureau of Agriculture and became its secretary until Republican victory removed him. Died March 1906 | |
