The front of the post card has an image of the entrance to Fort Donelson and also a picture of General U.S. Grant. On the back there is a caption that reads, “Fort Donelson was scene of one of the early decisive battles of the Civil War. It was a victory for the Union forces under the command of Brig. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant. On Feb. 16, 1862 Buckner accepted the harsh terms on ‘Unconditional and Immediate Surrender’ and delivered to Grant between 12,000 and 15,000 officers and men as prisoners of war.”
