dc.description | William M. Stewart was born at Philadelphia in 1803. Stewart College was named in honor of him before its name was changed to Southwestern Presbyterian University. William Stewart was a professor of Geology at Stewart College. He was one of the first scientists to employ observation in science of meteorology. Professor Stewart died in Clarksville on September 26, 1877 | |
